The January skies were dramatic and changeable today with heavy showers sweeping in from the Atlantic, an ideal day for some atmospheric photography on Tregonning Hill in the Parish of Germoe. After our initial steep climb up to Castle Pencaire an ancient hillfort, we were rewarded with stunning views of the north and south coasts of west Cornwall. From the war memorial on the west side of the hill the views over Mounts Bay and St Michael’s Mount are stunning. Walking along the ridge we discovered the preacher’s pit and old mining pits and eventually on the hilltop a beautiful mare called Freya who was out for her daily hack from Rinsey. The going was very rough, footpaths very muddy and but well worth the trek. I couldn’t decide which image to put up today as I had so many from the days shoot, but these two are special for me, today.

Today was one of those days when I was struggling for inspiration, so I resorted to putting on the Lensbaby Composer, which in turn has made me think about those cygnets again! Well it’s day 26 and I am nearly through my first month already

I keep being drawn back to these swans, actually cygnets on the verge of adulthood. There are nine of them in the family and mama and papa are wanting them gone, but, they are not ready to go. The dull overcast weather and flat light we have been having is ideal to grab detail of the high key plumage. I am enjoying this 365 journey,  it is interesting where it takes you.
