By road New Delhi – Jaipur
Leaving Delhi today by taxi to the Pink City of Jaipur, a road trip of 300 kms took us nearly an hour to get out of Delhi as we hit the rush hour 9 – 10 am but once clear of the city the roads were pretty clear and the roads had improved a great deal since being here 25 years ago, all smooth new tarmac.
We must have gone through at least 5 toll gates; we didn’t stop anywhere as we were eager to get here and arrived about 3pm. Twenty five years ago this journey would have taken double the time.
We arrived at Om Niwas serviced apartments our home for the next month www.omniwas.co.in and we were very impressed, the building is only 5 years old and very comfortable and modern with subtle Indian style and very firm beds!
We are on the top floor below the roof garden, so nice and quiet with bags of room with a great balcony the width of the building shaded by trees, which is full of wildlife at times, ring-necked parrots, squirrel chipmunks and other yet to be identified song birds.
It is the wedding season this month and Jaipur is a popular destination so we get massive fire work displays at night around us. Bani-Park is a good district to be in very quiet and just 10 mins tuk tuk ride into the very noisy and frenetic city.
Day time temperatures are comfortable about 26oC and around 13-15 at night just right!
