Galta is one of those day trips out from Jaipur, so as arranged our turbaned taxi driver turned up at 9am and after asking his name he says “just call me Mr Singh” as his first name is not easily remembered. The problem is if ever you need to track him down again ….. as all seiks here are called Mr Singh! We have already had two drivers called Mr Singh!
However, Galta was in a very picturesque location 3km east of Jaipur nestled in a steep sided valley which comprises of several 250 year old temples squeezed into a rocky ravine which were echoing with the sounds of screaming squabbling macaque monkeys.
It owes its scared location to the mineral spring water which seeps constantly into the tanks, man built ponds where devotees can bathe or anoint before taking puja at the temples.
It turned out to be a great place to take some action shots of the young women bathing themselves in the early morning sunshine and pleasantly for once, had no problem with me photographing them.
