Chateau Villandry

We had a fabulous day recently visiting this chateau built around 1536. It is the last of the the great chateaux built along the banks of the Loire during the Renaissance.

It was a crisp still morning with azure skies and sunshine thawing the chill air as we pulled up to the main gates bedecked in classy red and gold Christmas bows.

From the moment we entered the main gate we could sense this chateau personally owned by the Spanish/American family the Carvellos, was lovingly cared for. The attention to detail and personal touches made it a joy to walk around and hard to leave. Today, I am sharing just a few of the outside views of the grounds and fabulous Renaissance gardens that Joachim Carvello devoted his later years to restoring the Renaissance gardens. Tomorrow I shall share some inside scenes of which there were many!

  1. Really love the effect in these images . The toning and the shallow depth of field work a great. Hope you do not mind me asking Lesley has this dof been achieved with a lens baby? Hope the new year is one of joy
    , success and good health.
