My good friends the Thatchers Jack & Toby are nearing the end of the re-thatching of the The Blue Anchor in Helston, the oldest pub west of the Tamar, 15c.  It had been some 20 years since it was last done. I have been following them for the past few weeks, like a butterfly alighting on them when they least suspect (sometimes) and catching those moments in a master tradespersons day that other mere mortals do not have the luck to see. I have braved the heights of the Blue Anchor and acquired many images that will one day be seen.

On a wet (quite unfamiliar in these parts lately) morning, Toby unloaded the last two bales of thatch that will be used on the finishing touches of the ridge. A poignant image for today… I wonder how long it will be until the next time and who will be thatching?
