The `dhobi khana’ at Fort Kochi was once throbbing with activity. Today, a shadow of its former self, it presents a picture of slow extinction. There are still a few workers that have been there over 30 years. Over the past few days I have spent a bit of time at this great place of frantic industry. At the same time it is a very pleasant place to visit where the workers are very friendly and accommodating in having photography done. Just drop some rupees as way of thank you into the box on the way out. I feel another book coming on!
