Jaipur – Christmas Day at Jaigarh Fort

Getting to and from this outpost of Jaipur on Christmas Day and was quite an experience never to be forgotten. Having visited this once before 5 years ago, the usual obvious shots were not option for me today. The mid-day sun and architecture of this ancient bastion presented my theme for the day. I recommend, never ever visit this location of Christmas Day, the crowds and the (traffic) also within the fort were over powering, even for us Indiaphiles šŸ˜‰

Jaigarh Fort is situated on the promontory called the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of theĀ AravalliĀ range; it overlooks Amber FortĀ and the Maota Lake, The fort was built by Jai SinghĀ in 1726 to protect the Amber Fort and its palace complex and was named after him.

Tip, if you ever visit on any day, be there by 9am, beat the rush and the traffic which now is allowed with the fort šŸ˜¦ and have the place to yourselves.
