Shropshire – Stokesay Castle

It was a bone cold chilling day to ramble around this medieval fortified manor house come castle, which in some ways was perfect to imagine how it must have felt to live in the midst of winter time with no glass only wooden shutters to protect one from the chilling winds. It is hard to imagine now that glass was a privilege only for the very rich and where it was placed was for prestige and effect. I became fascinated and focussed with the carpentry, craftsman detail which were prevalent throughout this Knights of the Templar age, domain. This is a English Heritage property which has a very raw and natural feel to the property which allowed me to feel in places I was part of that past.
