This last day of October was mild beyond belief in these Welsh hills today. I spent most of the morning watching Rachel lunging the fabulous Beau in the pasture here
and then I had a demonstration of how to trim the hooves of her Ryeland sheep., or as she said how its not to be done with her pocket pen knife! They are a rare breed the Ryeland and is one of the oldest English sheep breeds going back seven centuries when the monks of Leominster bred sheep and grazed them on the rye pasture, giving them their name. They are incredibly docile and gentle natured.
