Summer starts today Great Flat Lode Trail

I have walked. cycled and horse-ridden this 12km trail over the years and I think it possibly the best trail ride walk in Cornwall. It is a perfect length for a day out and has a wonderful variety of scenery and history in an area of Cornwall that has not been mucked about with!

The Great Flat Lode Trail is a 7.5 mile (12km) circular trail in the heart of the historic Camborne-Redruth mining district.

The trail is multi-use for walking, cycling and horse riding.
Centred on the impressive hill of Carn Brea this trail is named after the ore vein which was the centre of the tin mining activity here. Information boards at the mining sites close to the trail provide further information on the history and working of the mines which were famous for their tin and copper production.

Louie and I set off on the first official day of summer from the South Wheal Francis Car Park near the hamlet of Piece, it is the perfect base to park your car for the day and set off on this awesome circular walk, take a picnic and plenty of water and you will have a day out that will remain with you for years to come.

    1. Thanks John always good to hear your comments, Louie and I love it there, we went back again this week, he can’t get enough! Had to put a selfie in whilst he was playing.
